Current Cycle: January 1, 2025 – December 31, 2027
REALTORS® are required to complete Fair Housing / Anti-Bias Training upon becoming a member, and every three (3) years thereafter, coinciding with the Code of Ethics training timeline. Qualified training must be at least 2 hours long and meet the National Association of REALTORS® (NAR) learning objectives and criteria. This requirement is in addition to the standard Code of Ethics training. This REALTOR Fair Housing Training is paramount to maintaining professionalism among the real estate community.
REALTORS® who have joined the Huntsville Area Association of REALTORS® (HAAR) on or after January 1, 2025, and have completed the required REALTOR Fair Housing Training, are considered compliant for the current cycle. Members who have not yet met this requirement must complete an approved training course by December 31, 2027, to maintain active association membership.
Important Notice: Failure to meet this requirement constitutes a violation of membership duties and will result in membership suspension during January and February following the cycle deadline (or until fulfilled). On March 1, any member who remains suspended will have their association membership automatically terminated.
Online Training (Self-Paced via NAR)
Online options are offered through NAR and can be completed anytime.
Classroom & Live CE Courses
In-person and live virtual programs are typically 3 hours in length and provide Alabama Real Estate Commission (AREC) CE credit while simultaneously fulfilling your HAAR membership requirement.
Check Your Status
To check if you have met your requirement for the 2025–2027 cycle:
Submitting Proof of Completion
Why auto-reporting doesn’t apply: While education providers and instructors report continuing education credits directly to the Alabama Real Estate Commission (AREC), they do not automatically notify local REALTOR® associations.
How to submit: If you completed your course on or after January 1, 2025, but your HAAR dashboard displays “No”, please use our Upload Form to submit a PDF certificate or screenshot of your completion.
Missing Certificate? If you earned AREC CE credit but lost your certificate, log in to your AREC Licensee Portal at arec.alabama.gov. Take a screenshot or download a PDF showing the course title, completion date, and your full name, then upload it to HAAR.
Fairhaven: A Fair Housing Simulation
An interactive, scenario-based online simulator created by NAR to help REALTORS® identify and navigate fair housing issues in daily practice. The program is FREE and is not approved for CE credit.
At Home With Diversity® (AHWD) Certification

The course work for the At Home with Diversity® certification is designed to enable you to work successfully with and within a rapidly changing multicultural market. It will help you to learn diversity sensitivity, how it applies to U.S. fair housing laws in your business, and ways to develop professional guidelines for working with people in the increasingly multicultural real estate market.
This official NAR certification course teaches you how to conduct business inclusively in multicultural markets while staying fully compliant with Fair Housing law. There is a discounted fee for HAAR members. CE credit is awarded up to 6 hours for this class.
Bias Override: Overcoming Barriers to Fair Housing

Bias Override: Overcoming Barriers to Fair Housing is an NAR certificate course that helps real estate professionals interrupt stereotypical thinking so they can avoid fair housing pitfalls and provide equal professional service to every customer or client. Participants will learn about the mind science of identity, study how implicit bias can result in fair housing violations and engage in interactive exercises to enhance communication skills and business relationships with clients of all backgrounds.
Note that classroom and live virtual versions of the course are posted as they are scheduled. Check back often for newly scheduled offerings.
Online CE Courses (Partnered Provider)

Self-paced courses offered through HAAR’s approved online education portal in partnership with The CE Shop. Upon completion, you must upload a copy of your course certificate or affidavit. Purchase receipts are not accepted as proof of completion.
