

The Graduate, REALTOR® Institute (GRI) designation gives REALTORS® an opportunity to strengthen their knowledge, sharpen their business skills, and build greater confidence in serving buyers and sellers.
Designed by the National Association of REALTORS® and administered in Alabama through Alabama REALTORS®, the GRI program provides in-depth education across the areas that matter most in real estate practice, including contracts, professional standards, technology, market knowledge, negotiation, buyer and seller services, business development, and more.
Take all 11 core courses (48 Hours):
The core classes are held at the local associations & many of them are available via Zoom.
Get GRI Elective Credits (15 Hours)
This can be any 15 hours from a long list of approved NAR designations.
Note: In lieu of elective courses, GRI students have the option to submit up to 24 transactions that count towards elective credits for a maximum credit of 12 elective hours. 1 hour of elective credit may be satisfied for every two transactions.
You must complete all the course work within 3 years of starting. The Alabama Association of Realtors will keep track of all your courses and you will apply for graduation through them once completed.
The program consists of a total of 63 hours, featuring 48 hours of mandatory core courses and 15 hours of elective courses. All GRI Core courses will be exclusively offered at the local level, ensuring accessibility and relevance to the specific needs of REALTORS® in their region.

Review HAAR’s education calendar for upcoming GRI-designated classes.
Complete the course and earn the applicable GRI credit. Some GRI courses may also qualify for Alabama continuing education credit.
Continue completing approved core and elective courses until you have met Alabama’s GRI requirements.
Once all required coursework has been completed and verified, eligible REALTORS® can receive the Graduate, REALTOR® Institute designation.

You have 3 years to complete your GRI from the date of your first class.
You will need to take all 11 GRI core credits for a total of 48 hours in addition to 15 hours of elective credit.
There are two courses eligible for CE credit, Contracts, and Avoiding Setbacks, Fines & Lawsuits.
