The HAAR + ValleyMLS.com joint membership meeting Thursday saw a capacity crowd of 150 join together to enjoy a big-time speaker, free lunch, vote on budgets, and sign up for free tickets to the Huntsville Botanical Garden.
Featured Speaker: Elliot Eisenberg, Ph.D, the "Bowtie Economist"
Elliot Eisenberg, Ph.D provided a presentation as our featured speaker that dove into where the economy is going – and how it got to where it is today. Known as the “Bowtie Economist”, Eisenberg presented in a fun and engaging way the dry data that helps members stay ahead of economic trends.

Huntsville Botanical Gardens: A New Partnership
HAAR also formally announced a major partnership with the Huntsville Botanical Garden Thursday as the latest free member benefit. In addition to special events including the REALTOR® Carnival on August 13th at the Garden, members can request complimentary day passes to the Garden for themselves, their friends and their clients by emailing Kaki Morrow at kmorrow@hsvbg.org.
Budget Revisions & Streamlining the Board of Directors
As your association moves into the second half of it’s 75th anniversary, members voted on midyear revised budgets for both HAAR and ValleyMLS.com, further positioning both to execute strategic plans, to ensure innovative programs and services for Realtors® and agents, and to be ready for any storms on the horizon.
HAAR members also voted to extend Board of Director terms from two years to three years. This move will provide more stability to the association’s Board and more opportunity for diversity and fresh perspectives to move HAAR forward.
During the transition, there will be ‘gap years’ created during the election process where one to two years of term service is necessary. Should a previous director or a future director choose to occupy one of those ‘gap year’ terms, this will not count against the current limit requirements.
