Huntsville City Council
The Huntsville City Council approved or discussed the following real estate-related proposals during their regular April 10th, 2024 meeting:
A project to build a 42-unit multi-family development partially supported by the American Rescue Plan to provide safe, affordable housing for unhoused residents and other vulnerable groups.
$384,000 was allocated to support area nonprofits in a collective mission to aid individuals facing homelessness or the risk of its grip.
Madison City Council
The Madison City Council proclaimed April as Fair Housing month, a resolution that was accepted by HAAR Vice President Regina Mitchell.
Madison County Commission
The Madison County Commission held its regular meeting on April 10th at 10am. During the meeting, the Commission proclaimed the Month of April as Fair Housing Month and passed a resolution regarding responsibilities and rights concerning Equal Opportunity in Housing. HAAR was proud to work with the Commission on its Fair Housing resolution and was there to accept the proclamation.

The Madison County Commission will hold it’s next regular meeting on April 10th, 2024 at 10am at the Madison County Courthouse.
Huntsville Planning Commission
At its March 26th monthly meeting, the Huntsville City Planning Commission where it approved the following rezonings and other proposals:
Leeman Ferry Commercial Subdivision Phase 2 (2 lots). Located SW Huntsville, south of Drake Ave and west of Leeman Ferry
Town Madison Phase 2 (138 lots). Located SW Huntsville, south of I-565 and east of Wall Triana.
Huntsville International Airport rezoning from Residence 1, Residence 2, and Commercial Industrial Park Districts to Commercial Industrial Districts (974.12 acres)
Wade Road Zoning. Located on east side of Wade Rd and south of Old Hwy 431. Proposed zoning: Neighborhoods Business C-1 and Residents 2-B Districts (12.41 acres)
Plat restrictions offered:
Restricted to prohibit multi-family dwellings in the Neighborhood Business C-1 District.
Multifamily dwellings in Residence 2-B District shall be restricted to the density controls of Residence 2-A District except for the maximum building stories and height
Hillis Rezoning. Located on west of South Green Mtn Rd and south of Knotty Walls Rd. Requested zoning: from Residence 1-B District to Residence 2 District (161.67 acres)
Plat restrictions offered:
Restricted to single-family detached dwellings and other uses permitted in Section 10.1 of the Zoning Ordinance.
Restricted to the minimum lot size, front and rear yard setback requirements of the Residence 1-B District
Apartments:
Plummer Road Multi-Family relayout of 172 units. Located NW Huntsville, east of Research Park Blvd. and South of Plummer Road.
