Chris Shaw for Madison County Schools Superintendent

From bus driver to principal, Shaw has served at nearly every level in public education in a diverse set of communities. His experience is invaluable at a time when issues need to be addressed like building school infrastructure, attracting new quality teachers to the workforce, and improving classroom technology.

HAAR urges voters to support Chris Shaw in in the Republican Primary for this office. There are no candidates running for the Democratic nomination. The winner of the May 24 Republican Primary will go on to win the General Election on November 8, 2022.

Jaylen Cotton for Madison County School Board, District 5

Cotton will bring a fresh, explosive voice to the Madison County School Board and make an immediate impact. His energy and unique perspective are rare assets and will bridge the communication gap between administrators, teachers, and studies. While this is his first campaign, Jaylen has already put in the work to learn the processes of public service under local officials like County Probate Judge Frank Barger.

HAAR urges voters to support Jaylen Cotton in the Republican primary for this office. There are no candidates running for the Democratic nomination. The winner of the May 24 Republican Primary will go on to win the General Election on November 8, 2022.

Kevin Turner for Madison County Sheriff

HAAR endorsed Turner in his 2018 contested election, who has since operated his office with distinction and a culture change from the previous administration.  While he does not have an opponent and will be reelected barring a write-in campaign, ensuring his campaign is well-resourced for the future is critical to ensure consistent quality community service from the Sheriff’s office.

WHAT IS THE REALTOR PARTY CANDIDATE WORKGROUP?
Each election cycle, the Huntsville Area Association of REALTORS® forms a REALTOR® Party Candidate Workgroup (RPCW). The RPCW is made up of a diverse selection of HAAR members whoave filled out their engagement profile with the association and have demonstrated experience or other value in vetting candidates and potential REALTOR® Champions. After workgroup members agree to serve, the roster is reviewed by the association’s Leadership Team and provided to the Board of Directors for an up-or-down vote.
All formally qualified candidates are provided with a questionnaire. Candidates who return a completed questionnaire are then invited to interview with the RPCW. After all candidates for a particular office are interviewed, the workgroup provides endorsement recommendations, reviewed by the Leadership Team, to the Board of Directors for an up-or-down vote.
HAAR endorses REALTOR® Champions in Madison County and municipal elections only. State legislative races are handled by the Alabama Association of REALTORS®. Federal races are handled by the National Association of REALTORS®.
