2018 REALTOR Gala

Huntsville Area Association of REALTORS® Installs 2018 Officers and Directors.

On Saturday, January 6, 2018, The Huntsville Area Association of REALTORS® (HAAR) held their 2018 REALTOR® Gala.  This annual event is not only a celebration of the induction of their officers and directors but also serves as a kick off to the coming year.

The event featured live entertainment from the band, Juice and was held at the Jackson Center. The venue was the perfect backdrop for the induction of the 2018 Officers and Directors. A number of local dignitaries including the Mayor of Huntsville, Tommy Battle, were also in attendance. HAAR member and 2018 Alabama Association of REALTORS® President, Sid Pugh was the Master of Ceremonies for the evening.

2018 President, Valerie Miles began her speech by talking about her theme for the year, “Over the Top”. Each year, the incoming President chooses a theme to represent what they would like to accomplish in the coming year. Miles described “Over the Top” as being “each of us helping and supporting each other.” Miles went on to explain that she feels “Over the Top” is “when we help others succeed. When we are working to be sure our fellow agent is doing well, when we share our knowledge with each other. When we encourage others and lift each other up. When we simply help other, I firmly believe that is when we get to experience what truly being and living ‘Over the Top’ means.”  In addition to the induction of the officers and directors the winner of the Broker Excellence Award was named. This is the first time this award has been given and is meant to recognize a broker leader each year that stands for professionalism, agent training, leadership and association involvement. This year’s winner is long-time REALTOR® Martha Webster of Re/Max Unlimited. Webster has been a REALTOR for 38 years. She has held the position of Qualifying Broker for seven of those years. Webster is self-identified as “strong on ethics and professionalism” and a lifelong learner holding the designations of CRS and GRI. Webster and her brokerage company hold ethics and trainings as its two most important values. Webster not only deserves the Broker Excellence Award but is also the mark to which future nominees and winners will be measured The Huntsville Area Association of REALTORS® is honored to have her as a member and representative of the real estate community.

After the induction of twenty-eight officers and directors, attendees celebrated with plenty of music and dancing. The Huntsville Area Association of REALTORS® is excited for 2018 and looks forward to an improving market and being a part of our ever thriving and growing “Rocket City”.
